We are making renewable energy a reality in Iowa.

Founded in 1992, The Iowa Renewable Energy Association (I-Renew) is a membership-based, educational nonprofit organization dedicated to educating Iowans about the appropriate use of sustainable, renewable energy technologies.

In addition to educational activities, we partner with other non-profit groups in the state to support new policies encouraging renewable energy development. We also work with policy makers, government agencies, and individuals to implement renewable energy programs. Our members are playing a major role in making Iowa a national leader in renewable energy. I-Renew depends on member support for its educational programs. Members receive discounts to I-Renew workshops and events, a subscription to Energy Matters, our monthly newsletter featuring the latest news in renewable energy and energy, and the satisfaction of directly, positively and proactively promoting the appropriate use of renewable energy technology in Iowa.

Educational and Promotional Activities

I-Renew’s educational and promotional activities include:

  • Workshops and demonstrations on constructing photovoltaic (PV) energy systems, active and passive solar energy systems, wind energy systems, bio-energy systems, alternate building materials, and energy conservation.
  • Energy Matters, a monthly newsletter offering renewables information and networking opportunities.
  • The Iowa Renewable Energy Sourcebook - a directory of businesses and resources dedicated to renewable energy.
  • Tours of renewable energy and energy efficiency sites in Iowa.
