Video Presentations

The following presentations on energy efficiency and renewable energy were originally given at the 2008 I-Renew Energy & Sustainability Expo in Cedar Falls. The presentations were videotaped and distributed via a grant from the Iowa Office of Energy Independence.

Renewable Energy Basics

Would you like to generate electricity for your home from wind or solar power? Kara Beauchamp of Cornell College talks about what equipment you need, how much electricity you can produce, and what decisions you need to make about your system.

Kara Beauchamp of Cornell College discussing Renewable Energy Basics

Household Energy Efficiency

Curt Atkins of Waverly Light & Power discusses what you can do to lower your monthly energy bills, including tips on installing insulation, changing light bulbs, and conducting an energy analysis of your home.

Climate Change & an All-Electric Economy

Electric car pioneer Wally Rippel discusses the problem of climate change and how we can respond by building an economy that displaces oil for electricity in the transportation sector.

Wally Rippel of AC Propulsion talks about Climate Change and an All-Electric Economy

Running the World on Renewables

Bill Leighty of the Leighty Foundation discusses how the use of hydrogen and ammonia fuels, transmission pipelines, and annual scale-firming energy storage could power the world.
