This is our opportunity to offer cost-effective, clean energy alternatives that will put Iowans to work and protect Iowa’s environment.
The Iowa Utilities Board will begin the Bakken pipeline hearing next week to determine if a crude oil pipeline serves the convenience and necessity of Iowans.
On Thursday, November 12, 2015, the hearing will start with public comments from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm at the Community Building on the Boone County Fairgrounds, 1601 Industrial Park, Boone, Iowa. The IUB is requiring an advance sign-up process for those that want to speak.
If you plan to speak on Nov. 12th, you must call the Board’s general number, 515-725-7300, during business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Thursday, November 5th. Callers will need to state their name, address, and whether they want to speak in favor of or against issuance of the permit. Waiting lists will be assembled as necessary. They will take equal numbers of speakers who are opposed and supporting the pipeline. The completed list will be posted on the Board’s website on Monday, November 9, 2015.
Clean Energy Alternatives
There is enough wind power in the great plains states to power the entire U.S and we have an existing infrastructure in place to store it and transmit it. The solution is a carbon-free fuel called ammonia – see the US ammonia pipelines mapped out.
