Iowa has 65.3% of energy generated coming from renewable sources.*
*2024 American Clean Power Association report
The 2021-2022 Revitalization project updated the I-Renew headquarters (The Jordan Solar Center), allowing it to serve as a center for renewable and sustainable energy activism.
Through our partnership with Prairiewoods, we were able to connect our building to their Alliant electricity service. This allowed our building to become “grid-tied.” When our panels aren’t producing energy, we get electricity from the grid through Prairiewoods. When our panels are producing a surplus of energy, Prairiewoods gets all of this extra electricity and passes it to the grid - putting cleanly produced energy onto the grid.
By the numbers:
14.4 kW solar array
26,280 kWh’s produced each year
22,233 CO2’s offset each year
Estimated savings from net metering: $1,000 per year
Headquartered in Hiawatha, IA on the Prariewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center, I-Renew is volunteer-run nonprofit that aims to help Iowans understand the advantages of renewable energy and sustainability.
